Ruth Wanjiku


Ruth’s passion for international development sparked during her formative years growing up in Kenya. Her experiences growing up in Kenya and her life in UK geared her to work in an impact led environment and especially, supporting the development of small communities.

Ruth is a recent graduate of University of Birmingham, graduating with a MSc in Development Management (Public Economic and Finance). Whilst completing her masters, she interned for Otra Cosa Network, a small NGO that offers affordable volunteering opportunities to individuals around the world, in order that to support the needs of community-run partner projects. Most recently, she interned for AbleChildAfrica as a Programme and Advocacy Intern where she supported the programmes team with their fundraising strategy and supporting in managing active projects. Following her time at AbleChildAfrica, Ruth joined Producers Direct attracted by the idea of innovative solution orientated development utilized from underserved, and often ignored rural farming communities.

Other than her love for shopping and sampling different cuisines, Ruth is currently learning French and Swahili!
