CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
“Uno de los objetivos de la capacitación es que los que reciben la capacitación puedan capacitar a otros”
Profile
In 1977 a group of farmers who belonged to the Cooperativa Satipo met to discuss forming a Coffee Cooperative in the area of the District of Pangoa. After many meetings between various local actors, the Organizing Committee was finally formed with Florentino Apolinario Julcarima, Mariño Narváez Soto, Roberto Ignacio Villasana, Eulalio Martínez Huaman, Toribio Meza Valero, Apolonio Sánchez Torres, and other pioneers taking up key positions.
The task was arduous, difficult but not impossible, and soon they started on taking the necessary steps to set up a constitution and operative structure required by law. The founders of the Cooperative consolidated the desire in the region and they have been able to create a cooperative that is now prospering and gradually overcoming the problems. With the sole purpose of supporting and protecting its members, Pangoa is formed of a membership of 716 who are incredibly proud of their cooperative and its achievements over the years.
